Oettinger Davidoff continues to expand its successful Zino Cigars brand with the launch of an exciting new cigar line. Zino Honduras joins the Zino portfolio as a distinct line, complementing Zino Nicaragua with a blend of characteristic Honduran tobaccos, finished with an Ecuadorian wrapper – crafted for aficionados seeking a full-bodied experience with slightly more intensity than Zino Nicaragua. The new line will be available in the popular formats Half Corona, Robusto and Toro, as well as a variety of flexible packaging and cut options, including tins, fresh packs and pre-cut cigars. As a new feature within the Zino Cigars range, all Zino Honduras cigars in the fresh packs are pre-cut, offering added convenience for enjoyment on the move.
Following the successful relaunch of the Zino Cigars brand with the Zino Nicaragua line in 2021, the brand has established a strong position in the market and built a loyal and growing fan base among adventurous and spontaneous aficionados. With Zino Honduras, the portfolio is further expanded to respond to evolving consumer preferences for greater intensity, while remaining true to the brand’s philosophy of exploration and openness. This spirit is captured in Zino Cigars’ guiding claim “Live Life from A to Zino” – an invitation to embrace new experiences without compromising on consistency or quality. “We are delighted to be launching Zino Honduras to meet the rising demand for more intense cigars,” says Javier González, SVP Head Global Marketing & Innovation at Oettinger Davidoff. “The high quality of these handmade cigars, combined with the enhanced flexibility and spontaneity offered through innovative packaging and cut options, truly sets this line apart and reflects what Zino Cigars stands for as a brand.” In line with Zino Cigars’ price positioning, Zino Honduras also stands out for its attractive value-for-money proposition, making premium cigar enjoyment accessible to a broader audience.
The Zino Honduras line showcases a distinctive tobacco blend sourced from the Jamastrán valley and the Copán region in Honduras, finished by an Ecuadorian wrapper. The unique climate conditions in Copán – characterised by warm days and cool nights – allow the tobacco to develop a rich aromatic foundation. High sugar production during the day is preserved by cooler night-time temperatures, resulting in complex aromas, a gentle natural sweetness and moderate intensity. The principal challenge in developing the blend lay in achieving balance: harmonising the spicy, robust character of Jamastrán tobaccos with the sweet, woody and earthy notes of Copán leaves. This delicate process required considerable expertise and craftsmanship to ensure a seamless and refined flavour progression.
Zino Honduras delivers a pronounced Central American taste profile that clearly differentiates it from Zino Nicaragua. The cigars offer complexity and a broad spectrum of flavours, unveiling an elegant interplay of rosewood, orange and creamy notes. The result is a medium-intensity enjoyment experience that is distinctive within the Oettinger Davidoff portfolio.
Zino Honduras is presented in a wide range of packaging options inspired by the vibrancy of Honduras, from lush tropical landscapes to the warm, earthy tones of its architectural heritage. The assortment includes striking wooden boxes, travel-friendly fresh packs, convenient carton packs and stylish tins designed for enjoyment on the move. For additional flexibility and ease of use, all cigars in the fresh packs and selected other formats are pre-cut.
