Ten years after the introduction of its last black band cigar, Davidoff Cigars unveils its latest creation: the Davidoff Puro Dominicano. This new line takes aficionados on an aromatic journey through the heart of the Dominican Republic and joins the existing Escurio, Nicaragua, and Yamasá lines of the Black Band Collection. Composed exclusively of well-aged tobaccos from six Dominican terroirs – with a combined age of 32 years – this exceptional blend will be available in three exciting formats: Short Robusto, Corona Larga, and Perfecto.
The Davidoff Black Band Collection has long been the choice of adventurous aficionados seeking intense palate stimulation through innovative blends crafted with tobaccos from the world’s most renowned growing regions. The Dominican Republic, known for its smooth and creamy tobaccos, also reveals a more challenging side – soils that are rich yet demanding, yielding tobaccos of remarkable character. For the Puro Dominicano, Davidoff’s Master Blenders selected leaves from six distinct Dominican terroirs. After years of patient experimentation, they achieved a rare balance: a full-bodied Dominican puro with the intensity expected from a black-banded cigar and the refinement that defines every Davidoff creation. “With Puro Dominicano, we are strengthening the foundation of our Black Band Collection by highlighting the Dominican Republic’s exceptional tobacco heritage. This line reflects our commitment to innovation within our core competencies and our continued pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship”, says Javier González, SVP Head Global Marketing & Innovation at Oettinger Davidoff. “But above all, Puro Dominicano offers our consumers an experience that is both deeply Dominican and unmistakably Davidoff: warm, rich, and multi-layered, with a flavour progression that evolves throughout the enjoyment. It is a journey of discovery – creamy, refined, and compelling – crafted for aficionados who appreciate depth, balance, and the pleasure of being continually surprised.”
Inspired by the Dominican amber gemstone, a rare jewel sourced from deep below and shaped into a warm, glowing masterpiece, the Puro Dominicano cigar is composed of predominantly higher-grade tobaccos from six different Dominican terroirs. Each contributes tobaccos with individual, distinct aromas from sweet and creamy to rich and spicy – rough diamonds, blended and shaped to perfection. The experience begins richly and invitingly, with dark chocolate, brown sugar, and bread creating a smooth and balanced introduction. Notes of nuts and sweet spice add warmth and depth. In the middle part, the cigar opens beautifully to reveal aromas of dried fruit, oak wood, and earth, refined by salted nuts and a touch of vanilla and citrus that bring elegant freshness. The finale unfolds in a creamy and rounded manner, where leather and biscuit dominate. Mineral and salty notes enhance the complexity, while the lasting impression is one of sophistication, marked by subtle hints of bread, bitter almond, and black pepper.

The new line pays tribute to its Dominican origin not only through its blend but also through one of its formats. The Corona Larga with its 44-ring gauge (1.8 cm diameter), symbolises 1844 – the year of the Dominican Republic’s independence. This format is unique within the Davidoff portfolio, and its narrow ring gauge combined with generous length allows for a smoother, more gradual flavour progression. For those seeking a more immediate experience, the Short Robusto delivers a fuller expression of the blend in a shorter enjoyment time.
The line also includes a Perfecto figurado, with a tapered head and foot that accentuates the wrapper and binder in the taste experience. This format, also unique to the Davidoff portfolio, demands the utmost precision and skill to roll.
Dimensions Short Robusto: 52 RG x 4 1/2” / Ø 2.1 x 11.5 cm Dimensions Corona Larga: 44 RG x 5 7/8” / Ø 1.8 cm x 14.9 cm Dimensions Perfecto: 50 RG x 5 1/2” / Ø 2 cm x 14.0 cm
The new line is presented in a black wooden cabinet box containing twelve cigars of the same format, accented with a striking yellow line inspired by Dominican amber, or alternatively in a pack of five of the same format. This colour detail is also reflected on the cigars’ rings. In a step towards more sustainable packaging, Davidoff has replaced the PET outer packaging with an environmentally friendlier carton alternative.
The new Davidoff Puro Dominicano line will be available as of 23 April 2026* at select Davidoff appointed merchants and flagship stores around the world. Participants at the Premium Cigar Association trade show from 17 to 20 April 2026 in New Orleans will have the opportunity to preview the new line.
